This is a dummy website created by the umbraco Website Wizard. It's very easy to change the design of this website, most of it can be done just by changing the css.

Changing the header image and the footer text

Login to umbraco, click on the Frontpage folder in the left pane. Select the "layout" tab and upload a new header. The format is 775px wide and 103px heigh. To change the footer, all you need to do is change the text in the textbox just below the header upload field.

Modifying the css

The css can easily be modified by logging into umbraco, click the "Settings" icon in the bottom right pane, open the"stylesheets" folder and click the "wizard" stylesheet.

Modifying the html

You can also modify the whole html output by changing the templates. To do so, go to the "Settings" section, open the "templates" folder and modify the appropriate template. The main layout is placed in the template named "Main". 

Modifying the bottom info on textpages

You can also change the small text info in the bottom of the text pages (Created at or Written By). These small texts are created as Dictionary items, which means that they can be language versioned. To change the date formatting and the text, go to the settings section in umbraco: 

  • Create a new language that you wish to use (ie: French).
  • Open the "Dictionary" folder and edit the items "CreatedAt" and "WrittenBy" in that language (ie: French).
  • Finally, go to the content section right click the first node (ie: Frontpage) and select "Assign Domain". Type the domainname for your site (or just loremipsum.com) and select your language (ie: French).

Then umbraco will write date formats according to that language and use the keys from the dictionary. This makes it easy to re-use templates on multiple languages.

Adding more functionality

You can easily add more functionality to your website than this simple Wizard includes. If you visit the package section of umbraco.org you'll find packages like Search, Weblog and RSS.
